About this project

Lottie is a mobile animation library that parses Adobe After Effects animations exported as JSON with Bodymovin and renders them natively on Android. The project is part of a family of renderers covering iOS, Web, React Native and Windows, with documentation, FAQ and examples hosted at airbnb.io/lottie. The stated goal is to let designers create and ship animations without engineers recreating them by hand. The README presents the library through example GIFs and links to a Google Play demo app. Installation is via Gradle only: add the dependency com.airbnb.android:lottie to the project build.gradle file. A separate lottie-compose artifact provides Jetpack Compose support, documented in the Android Compose section of the site. Lottie 2.8.0 and above requires projects migrated to AndroidX. Development of Lottie Compose means Gradle and the Android Gradle Plugin track the latest canaries, so contributors need Android Studio Canary builds, which can be installed alongside stable versions.
