About this project
AdGuard Home is a free and open-source DNS server designed to block advertisements and tracking domains across an entire network. By re-routing tracking domains to a "black hole," it prevents devices from connecting to those servers, effectively providing privacy protection for all connected hardware, including IoT devices, SmartTVs, and smart speakers.
Key capabilities include:
- Network-wide ad and tracker blocking via DNS sinkholing.
- Customization of blocklists and the ability to add custom filtering rules.
- Built-in DHCP server.
- Support for encrypted DNS upstream servers (DNS-over-HTTPS, DNS-over-TLS, DNSCrypt).
- Ability to operate as a DNS-over-HTTPS or DNS-over-TLS server.
- Parental control features, including blocking adult domains and forcing Safe Search on search engines.
- Per-client configuration and access settings to control who can use the DNS.
- Network activity monitoring and a web-based admin interface with HTTPS support.
- REST API for integration with other tools.
AdGuard Home is cross-platform and can be installed via automated scripts, Docker, or the Snap Store. It can be run without root privileges.
