About this project
ACRYL (Agent Context Relay Yielding Lifecycles) is an open-source agentic development environment designed to give coding agents a persistent, shared workspace. Instead of each agent maintaining its own isolated context, ACRYL owns the project state, tasks, and handoffs, allowing agents like Claude Code, Codex, OpenCode, and others to act as replaceable workers within one continuous development scene.
The application offers three peer surfaces: an Electron desktop app, a local web runtime, and a terminal UI, all rendering the same underlying runtime and project model. Its canvas-style interface includes project and git worktree navigation, tabbed agent sessions, native terminals, a file editor, diff review with line-by-line comments, and a draggable kanban board.
A built-in catalog supports 33 coding agents plus custom agent definitions, with an attention queue that notifies users when an agent requires input. The Agent Control feature lets an agent drive the ACRYL interface itself through accessibility-tree interactions, with per-call user approval, audit logging, and emergency stop. External terminal commands such as `acryl control`, `acryl doctor`, and `acryl repair` provide similar control and diagnostics.
ACRYL is built on Cordis, a plugin composition framework, making nearly all functionality replaceable and hot-reloadable. "Blends" package complete plugin compositions as shareable environment setups. The underlying capability substrate is a pinned DeepSeek Harness checkout, providing sessions, tools, PTYs, and sandboxing.
Installation options include platform-specific desktop installers for macOS, Windows, and Linux, a curl-based CLI installer, npm, and a Nix flake. The project is in active early development (v0.2.0) and is licensed under the MIT License.
