About this project
Rainfrog is a terminal-native database client designed for efficiency and keyboard-driven workflows. It supports multiple databases including PostgreSQL (Tier 1), MySQL and SQLite (Tier 2), DuckDB (Tier 3), and Oracle (Tier 4). Features include vim-style navigation, mouse support, syntax-highlighted query editing, session history, favorites, table filtering, schema switching, and metadata viewing. It runs on macOS, Linux, Windows, and Android via Termux. Users can customize keybindings, settings, and connections via config files. Data can be exported to CSV. The tool is under active development and not recommended for production write operations. Installation options include Cargo, Homebrew, Pacman, Nix, Conda, Pixi, Docker, or direct binary download. Requires a Nerd Font for icons. Oracle support needs external ODPI-C libraries. Rainfrog prioritizes CLI usability with shortcuts for common tasks and integrates with environment variables and .env files for connection management.
