About this project
Freegosy is a cross-platform Flutter application that serves as a unified frontend for RomM ROM libraries. It allows users to browse and filter their game collection, download ROMs with real-time progress tracking, and launch games directly in supported emulators. The app integrates deeply with RomM, including support for RomM 4.9 features such as per-device save sync and play session tracking.
Key capabilities include native support for macOS (ARM64/Intel), Windows, and Linux (including Steam Deck/EmuDeck and RetroDECK), enhanced offline mode with persistent metadata caching, and advanced emulator management. Users can download, update, and uninstall emulators directly from Settings, with automatic extraction of common archive formats and smart binary detection. RetroArch core management supports 197 libretro cores with per-platform and per-game core selection.
Save synchronization is a major focus, featuring bidirectional local-to-cloud sync with RomM, local backup history, a serial background sync queue, and per-device save isolation on RomM 4.9+. The app supports a wide range of emulators including RetroArch, DuckStation, PPSSPP, Ryujinx, PCSX2, mGBA, Dolphin, Cemu, RPCS3, and others, with varying levels of save sync compatibility.
Freegosy also includes a headless mode for scripting and automation, allowing list, download, and launch operations from the command line with JSON output. The UI features a visual-first grid with game cards, recently played quick access, screenshot galleries, multi-disc support, and controller mapping with analog stick and hat switch support. Installation is available via Nix flakes, Windows installers, macOS DMGs, and Linux AppImages or tarballs.
