kcode

KCode is an open-source AI coding workbench that provides a desktop application, browser interface, and terminal agent. Users can configure their own model providers without relying on an official account. The project is developed based on ZCode's public source code, licensed under Apache-2.0, with copyright held by Z.AI Co., Ltd. It states that it has no official affiliation with Z.ai / Zhipu. Installation packages are published on GitHub Releases, supporting macOS, Windows, and Linux. On macOS, if a "damaged" warning appears after installation, run xattr -dr com.apple.quarantine /Applications/KCode.app to allow it. On Windows, if SmartScreen shows a warning, select "More info" and then "Run anyway". Compared to the upstream ZCode, KCode unifies the product name, icons, commands, and environment variables as KCode; removes Zhipu / Z.ai login, OAuth, subscription, and upgrade implementations, replacing them with self-configured providers; replaces the official plugin marketplace with a repository built-in directory, no longer pulling from the Z.ai CDN; includes a built-in plugin creator, with settings to toggle and edit custom system roles; and consolidates the approval menu and plan mode interactions according to this repository's product rules.
